ESSA Parent Resources
Through the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), Shamong Township School District receives Title 1 funds. These funds are used to improve the district’s Response to Intervention (RTI) Programs and to fund activities that are supplemental to the regular classroom instruction and provide additional educational services.
Title I regulations require that districts receiving Title I funds implement specific parent involvement activities and notifications. Below are links to policies regarding Parent Involvement. All parents of RTI students will receive the Parent Student Compact.
TEACHER QUALIFICATIONS:
The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requirement regarding the term 'Highly Qualified Status for Teachers' has been discontinued as it related to receipt of federal funding. Under the previous definition, the term identified the status as a teacher who has earned a four-year college degree, has obtained a regular teaching certificate/license, and can provide proof of their knowledge in the subject area they teach. The Shamong Township School District is proud that all of its teaching staff meet these requirements, and that many have advanced degrees and continue personal professional development. The district's teachers are evaluated each year, as required by State mandates, to ensure that their teaching skills remain at the highest possible level. Parents are urged to support their child's education and communicate with his or her teacher on a regular basis. By partnering together – families and educators – we can provide your child with the best education possible.
